Policewoman seriously wounds Palestinian driving stolen car

By Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent

A policewoman shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian who was driving a stolen vehicle near the West Bank city of Nablus on Wednesday.

According to the policewoman, she fired after the vehicle continued traveling at high speeds in her direction, despite the fact that she signaled the driver to stop, and she became suspicious the driver intended to run her over.

The vehicle failed to stop even after the shots were fired, hitting an empty car that was parked nearby.

Police has set up an improvised roadblock in the area, as part of an operation to locate stolen cars.

The driver was taken to a Nablus hospital for treatment.

A police inquiry revealed that the vehicle was stolen in the Tel Aviv area.
