Masked gunman shoots Ramle woman dead in suspected 'honor killing'

A masked gunman on Tuesday murdered a 29-year-old woman at the entrance to her Ramle home by a masked gunman, firing shots at her in front of her children and then fleeing from the scene.
The divorced woman's two young children, aged eight and four, and a babysitter, were witness to the murder. Police suspect that the murder was an "honor killing."
If the murder was in fact an "honor killing," the woman will have been the eighth woman killed for such a motive this year, according to the Kayan Feminist Organization.
The Kayan Feminist Organization started a wide-reaching campaign a few weeks ago to raise awareness of the murders of Arab women. The campaign compares the "honor killing" of 13 Arab women in 2005 - which hardly aroused public reaction - to the 13 young Arab men killed in the October 2000 riots, which caused great fury and led to many public demonstrations.
