With murder suspect arrested, 90% of Katzrin kids back in schoolBy Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent Some 90 percent of students returned to the Nofei Golan school in Katzrin on Sunday, following the arrest of a construction worker suspected of murdering 13-year-old Tair Rada, who was found in the school bathroom earlier this month. Due to the Hanukkah vacation, Sunday was the first day of school since police arrested Roman Zadorov, who has confessed to the crime. In the first few days after the murder, about half the students failed to come to school. In the days preceding the vacation, some 80 percent of the students showed up. During the Hanukkah break, school officials had a fence outside the building upgraded and cameras installed, and a security adviser is expected to come up with a comprehensive plan for securing the school. In addition, the parents' council has been promised that the police will continue to send extra policemen and patrol cars to local educational institutions. The number of security guards at the school will also double by the end of the school year, from two to four. Police also patrolled near the Zadorov family house on Sunday, fearing that the family could be targeted in a revenge attack. |
