Police suspect foul play in shooting death of Nahariya man

By Jack Khoury, Haaretz Correspondent

A 29-year-old Nahariya man was found shot to death in his apartment on Thursday.

No weapon was found, leading police to suspect the killing was criminally motivated, though suicide has not yet been ruled out.

Nahariya police chief, Chief Superintendent Jamal Hackrush, said the incident was reported by the deceased man's brother, who found him lying lifeless on the floor when he visited his apartment.

Police believe the shooting took place only a few hours earlier.

An initial inquiry revealed the man had recently moved back to his native town after living in central Israel for an extended period, choosing to rent an apartment on his own instead of lodging with his family.

A number of family members were called in for questioning, but no arrests have been announced.

Police have ruled out the possibility that the shooting was related to a series of incidents that occurred in Nahariya as of late, including the grenade attack on the house of Nahariya Mayor Jackie Sabag, and a pipe bomb attack on the car of a crime family.
