By Nir Hasson, Haaretz Correspondent

The Tel Aviv District Attorney on Monday charged a 25-year-old resident of the Israeli Arab village of Tira with the murder of his brother last week.

According to the charges, Namir Bishara shot dead his brother, soccer player Tibi Bishara, also known as Tibi Tibi, while the victim was kneeling in prayer on the floor. Bishara allegedly fired two shots into his brother's head and back, wounding him critically.

The victim was rushed to hospital when police arrived on the scene, and was declared dead en route. When Namir Bishara was caught in a police chase, he admitted to having been engaged in conflict with his brother.

Namir Bishara confessed to the crime during his investigation. Police later found the pistol with which he allegedly killed his brother hidden in a field in the city.

Tibi Tibi, 23, had been an Israeli Premier League footballer and had also played for the national soccer team.
