MK Braverman: Our gov't has made life 'theater of the absurd'By Itim MK Avishai Braverman (Labor) on Tuesday severely criticized the leadership in Israel, saying the current government has turned life into a "theater of the absurd." "We must ask the public to forgive our malfunctioning leadership," said Braverman at a convention held at the Berl Katzenelson Center in Tel Aviv. "For the past six months, since the government was formed, we have been living in a surreal theater of the absurd. This is a government composed of the wrong ministers, serving in the wrong ministries and following the wrong policies. "These days we bare witness to a leadership afflicted by serious moral problems," he added. Braverman, one of the leaders of the Labor Party 'rebels,' called for a change of leadership within the party. Braverman called the war in Lebanon "ineffective, and not because of money, but because it didn't have correct and well defined goals, and because of a leadership failure." "Top experts told me that the time required to prepare the Israel Defense Forces for the war is at least 4 months, and we rushed ahead," he added." Addressing the social issue, Braverman said: "Unfortunately we will have to wait till 2009 or even 2010 for the social revolution, because during the next two years there will be a severe budget deficit." |
