Four IDF troops admit to beating Palestinian, get 63 days in jailBy Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent Four Israel Defense Forces soldiers were sentenced Wednesday to 63 days in prison after admitting to beating a Palestinian at a military checkpoint north of the West Bank city of Nablus. During a trial conducted by one of their officers, the soldiers admitted they had beaten the Palestinian with a stick. The man filed a complaint with the civil administration and included a photo documenting the attack, which he had taken using a camera on his mobile phone. Military police are investigating the event, and the soldiers could face further prosecution, in addition to the punishment already ordered by their officer. |
