The family of a young woman who died yesterday after being fatally injured in a traffic accident decided to donate her organs after she herself made the request before the accident.
The organs were transplanted to five people.
Shahar Gabay, of the northern community of Had Nes, told her mother the day before the accident that she wanted to obtain an organ donor's card.
Gabay had been discharged from the Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday, her 21st birthday, and was driving home from the military recruitment base at Tel Hashomer. Near the Eilabun junction she crashed her car into a truck driving in front her.
Her parents said she was planning to go on a trip abroad with her sister Hadar, who is still in the army.
