Baruch Dego will leave Maccabi Tel Aviv this summer, the player's adopted father and agent David Tshuva said yesterday. Tshuva claimed that Turkish club Galatasaray was extremely interested in Dego and a deal would be signed within the next few days.
Tshuva said that even if a move to Galatasaray did not go ahead, Dego would not continue with Maccabi. "Baruch is better off sitting on the bench at Galatasaray than at Maccabi," Tshuva said. "I know the Turks are very interested in him and want him to play for them.
Dego joined Maccabi four years ago from Ashdod as one of the most expensive signings in Israeli soccer. This season has seen his standing at the club decline, but four goals in Maccabi's Champion's League campaign attracted the attention of several European clubs.
