YouTube removes Israeli spoof on Gaza flotilla clash
Video of Flotilla Choir singing 'We'll con the world' aims to battle 'one-sided' coverage of events.
By Haaretz Service Tags: Gaza flotillaAn Israeli-produced parody taking on the world's criticism of Israel following the Gaza flotilla clashes has been removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim by Warner/Chappell Music, Inc.
Sung to the tune of "We are the world," originally recorded to raise funds for Africa in the 1980s, the re-written song attacked the supposedly one-sided portrayal of events that has been broadcast across the world with their version called "We'll con the world."
The EFF organization which fights predatory lawsuits, such as downloads and uploads on the internet, criticized the content management tools which pick up on allegedly illegal content and automatically removes it. The organization has said the filters do not always distinguish between legal and illegal content, and thus harm copyrighted material that does not impinge on any laws.
"This is not the first time that the security site Content ID has removed legal content from the Web," an EFF statement said.

"Copyright owners have silenced and removed clips uploaded by teenagers singing a popular Christmas song, a baby lip sinking, and even a lecture by Professor Larry Lessig about the creative importance of remixing," the statement added.
The EFF said that there were ways in which they could fight against the removal of such video clips from Youtube.
The video was interspersed with clips from the recent Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound aid ship, the Mavi Marmara, showing activists attacking Israeli soldiers in the clashes that would eventually claim the lives of nine activists and leave dozens, including Israeli commandos, injured.
The song was sung by "flotilla activists" going by the name of "Flotilla Choir."
"We'll make the world abandon reason. We'll make them all believe that the Hamas is Mama Theresa," the group sings. "The truth will never find its way to your TV."
The Israeli government spokesperson's office accidentally circulated a link to the clip on Friday, after which they stated the video was "not intended for general release. The contents of the video in no way represent the official policy of either the Government Press Office or of the State of Israel."
The clip was created by a Hebrew-language media satire site called Latma.

Very well done and insightful. Reminds me of the 1960's ! Con's are indeed liers.
and I used to take her seriously. Never again!
Having seen the video it seems to me to look like top-notch SNL type of stuff. Well done. The government need not apologize for videos made by private citizens, even if they are in questionable taste, but it was nice of them to do so. We see stuff like this regularly on Comedy Central, SNL, South Park. What's the big deal? Bad taste? Ever see "The Producers", "Hogan's Heros", "All in the Family", "Sanford and Son"?”
These good Israelis should be given a key position with the Government Spokesman's Office. Finally good Public Relations - which is something of a conundrum to Bibi and Co.
The release of this video will lead many in world outside of Israel, yes there is world outside of Israel, to come to conclude that (1) Israel has neither respect or regard for the loss of life suffered; (2) is insensitive to any view not 'its' own, and (3) cannot be taken seriously. It would seem that, once again, insensitivity has lead Israel to shoot itself in the foot.
Excuse me, but since when does a country not have a right defend its right to exist and to blockade its border to prevent missiles from being shipped to its enemies so that they can shoot and kill innocent Civilians
I have thoroughly enjoyed this comic/tragic shaw. The message was hearty and clear. LIES KILL!!!!
i think the activists on the marmara were violent and the flotilla campaign was a pr stunt. BUT.. this video is not funny, has no taste, and is disrespectful to the people who died and their families.. no matter what their intention..
Sometimes humor is a very effective tool to focus on the irony and insanity of a world that constantly is so quick to condemn the Jews and Israel no matter what the situation and circumstance. I DO NOT see it as an attempt to trivialize the unfortunate loss of life. In the same way , I don't trivialize the loss of life that Hamas inflicts on their own families as they fired rockets into Israel from their homes while their children sat as human shields on the doorsteps of their houses.
Gaza sucks
thats mature
Loved it-so well done, satire with a very sharp point, as a Roman Catholic one of my favorite lines was-well done Israel. "abandon reason the Hamas is Momma Theresa" for Mother Teresa, saying a prayer for Israel.
Israel aceted in sefl-defense, that should be made clear, but to make a joke about people getting killed is very poor taste any way you look at it. Not a proud moment for the creators or admirers of this video.
If 'had enough' wishes to see footage from the ship, all he need do is search the web. There is documentary footage aplenty showing that these people were no 'humanitarians,' but rather were armed and ready to stage a fight, simply in order that they might then whinge to the world upon being thrashed. Sound familiar? Of course: it's 1948, 1967, 1973, 1982, 2006, and 2009 all over again.
xddd:::))))
Hats off to the guys who made it possible!!! I was laughing out loud when I viewed it. It is absolutely funny. They drove home the point. And that is : Israel has every right to intercept such stupid people on the high seas !!!
The shabaks cumputer hacker succeeded to hack the Solidarity campaign with MK Haneen Zoabi. Evry time that i wanted to sign the Campaign, i've got to listen to this rassist and ugly and tastelessly Shabak Song against the Peacefull Flotilla activist.
I am in tears of laughter.. LOVE IT !
My goodness. What an embarassing movie. The bluntness of it, lack of humour, and horrible acting. Distributing this will surely not change anybody's mind.
do no wrong policies no longer friendly world leaves you alone and not as powerful as the old man who for years would lose about Turkey, an Israeli problem, in fact, not unlike the one we like Israel, but it is always violent attacks
Too bad if the reality of the set up by Turkey offends those who do not want to know or let it be known Those peaceful protestsr ships that chose not to fight were fine When are these humanitarians delivering aid to Niger? Zimbabwe?
Hamas still refuses the aid to my knowledge. Why is the world so anti-semitic. hold the Arab and Muslim world accountable to world standards and peace could be made in a week. Thats the only way. Show how two faced the Arab/Muslim world is.
I seen this on a blog and posted it the other day on facebook. I have had this song in my head ever since. I love it. They nailed it!
In this clip a lot of talent is displayed That can be used for many good things. See some suggestions above.
In the propanganda game palestianians and arab countries are playing so lets play. Im sure the Turks love it
Is this really meant to be funny?Bad accents, terrible costumes, apallingly unfunny lyrics. It looks like something in a bad high school show.
although i am from India, and I fully back the song and Israel's rights. This is a fitting reply to the error we see world over. Thank you for this song and post.
'We Con the World' OK. İt is easy such saying.. do not forget, You hit Mavi (blue) Marmara but today You lost Mavi (blue) Akım (Russia-Turkey-Israel energy pipline) .Which one is important? Hahaha!
Whatever the irony or sarcasm of this video the humor of it diminishes very quickly ( about 5 seconds) out of a video length of 4 and a half minutes. But the stupidity of the Foreign Ministry to distribute that to Foreign journalists is almost beyond belief. Its one thing to pass it around the office but another to use it as a PR campaign Some of the lyrics are close if not actually offensive to the other side and if not also the neutral observer. The people and persons in government responsible for distributing this childish and offensive stuff should be disciplined or resign. We expect a higher standard of professionalism and morality from our public officials. If Helen Thomas had to go , so do the FM officials who poke fun in this very low grade way as a substitute for diplomacy. I really support Israels right of self defense but not this way.
Change your perspective, keep your main values, move as the real intelligent democracy in the region, Israel can do that and still secure its borders and safety.
If it weren't so sad, it would be pathetically funny! How can anybody sane take that video seriously is beyond me.
Thanks for posting this. Israel needs to get its message out there. The enemies of Israel and the Jewish people are having their day but their time will come to fall on their own knives.
We've had nothing but Israel-bashing propaganda in extremely poor taste. Let us have have a little fun of our own. It's called free speech.
all this video, and stuff like it, accomplishes is to reinforce the opinion that Israel is arrogant and insensitive to the views of others.
Shame on Israel.
How low, well that depends, how low is the dead sea??
then there is no hope of justice and compassion from a certain minority of Israelis. And these are the same people who condemned the animated tape of Gilad Shalit.
This video intended as satire brilliantly illustrate the dominant Israeli view of the event. It was even distributed to international media by Israeli officials before it was withdrawn. Why was it withdrawn? Depending on who is watching, it could just as well be seen as a parody of the hasbara.
Caroline Glick thinks this is funny. I don't. I might have laughed if Mark Regev or Oren joined in.
This is shame towards the victims, towards the wounded soldiers and wounded activists.Just to think made by and even participated by Caroline Glick Senior Editor of the Jerusalem Post, who can take that newspaper serious after this. No taste with regard to a dramatic event for all sides Conny Mus
Nice to see you here, Conny!
Making fun over the death will not attract peacefull feelings and provoke for sure hatred... And it has no benefit for Israel... This video is only a game which only children can Play; "May father can beat your father"... "No my father can!"...
A lone HEBREW GLADIATOR, in huge MEDIA COLISEUM, wins, time and again, ARMED MUSLIM CROWDS, while CHRISTIAN SPECTATORS are bored by the elitist winner, calling for change. Then the Hebrew shows his ATOMIC BOMB. Suddenly no more entertainment; well, not for MEDIA owners; they don't care about the impeding clash of civilizations; just proceeding with their all-time greedy opportunity of the day. Nearby, in a small Hebrew Coliseum, a just created, all-time-high-rating song, is winning millions of viewers. Indeed, necessity is the mother of creativity. Good Choir. Good words. Watch & hear, or watch & read the great new song here on YouTube: "Flotilla choir Presents: WE con the World" Time for a good humor.
So funny, so accurate. Also, they sing pretty well and obviously studied the original video quite closely. En gros, très bien fait.
This video may be emotionally satisfying, however I suspect that it will be used as a recuiting tool by Jihadists as evidence that Israeli's do not regard the deaths of other human beings as anything other than a topic for jokes.
How many islmamic comdians are there? I think that if a muslim ever did laugh, their heads would explode. Humour is something that muslims fail to enjoy.
Very true video and funny as well. The Gaza boat people were terrorist thugs wieiding knives metal bars and guns they deserved to die since they were a lynch mob of Jew haters who yelled "back to Auschwitz" as they attempted to kill the soldiers. E-Mail this video linl to all of your friends with instructions that they should also email it- let the truth be heard,
The Love Boat - bringing food and terror to a port near you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKWliX0n4DY Not quite a million hits, but working toward it
send the clip to my dear friend erdoGUN he will join me soon, I hope
Very smart, creative and carries truth to the world in a humourous setting about a very serious subject. Thank you for making this and I'm glad it 'leaked' out! My love to Israel, whom G-d will continue to protect and strengthen. We who know and understand rest in the assurrance of G-d's promise that Israel will be victorious! Baruch ata Adonai!
Humour is universal, and although we all agree it was a disaster and a tragedy on Mavi Marmara, we can also all agree that the media knee jerk reaction of condemning Israel before knowing the facts is also a disaster and a tragedy. Humour makes life livable.
This is definitely worth viewing!!
Once again evidence that the Islamic world has no humor
This incident is as a litmus test that demonstrates the depth of deception already in the world concerning Islam. The only reason Muslims befriend anyone is to convert or conquer, and that is in the Koran. Prime Minister dragon of Turkey trying to use God's law to condemn the Jews? Oops I meant Prime Minister Erdagon...or did I? The next wave of lies may actually lead to the ultimate end...for he deceives the whole world.
Where is the footage from the ship? that's what the world want's not bad taste Israeli propaganda...
that shows how you succumb to liberal, looney leftist propaganda. keep looking blind sage.
Israel needs more of this kind of response to the world. There are times for serious, sober discussion and there are times for remorseless humor. Israel's polition is at times absurdly funny because it so absurd. A rolllicking response to a pitiless and biased world is justified, if for no other reason than it makes you feel better! Good work.
couldn't agree more ! awesome perspective!!
Ladies. it is not that everyone in the World hates Jews and they won't let them have their home land, no one is saying that, what the world is saying , first act of strike was the one was a mistake and stagle the civilians under a seage, that is hwat world is saying and result of it people killed, and all they were doing cariying aid, time for the Israel to shake hands with their enemies like actually Turkey is doing, look today Turks are talking to Barzani, Kurdish leader, tme to shake hands
The truth always come back like a boomerang. Read the turkish newspapers of this week end. They are admitting that terrorist and not humanitarian activist made their way on the boat separately with no checking !!!
Why is the Gaza blockade badbut the Turkish blockade of Armenia good. Why the double standard?
...i guess the problem is just that hamas is sensitive and shy and has been waiting for us to extend our hand?
http://video.foxnews.com/v/4223984/glenn-beck-web-exclusive best explanation ever
this man is a stupid racist and promotes hate and ignorance. if this is your source for 'news' you are seriously ill informed.
Spot on! Beautifully made. Let everyone distribute it to as many people as possible!!!
