Stage Animal Israelis Discover a New Genre of Art

There are very few Israeli plays in which friendships are on the verge of collapse over an argument about the name of a baby. In Israeli art this is considered a meaningless frill.

In June 2011, the Beit Lessin Theatre put on "Le Prenom," based on a French play by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patelliere. For reasons that are by now forgotten, I was not able to attend the premiere. The play and I carried on oblivious of one another, and would have continued to do so were it not for the fact that the play eventually became a film.
