Crumbling shrine for an early Zionist hero
The Joseph Trumpeldor museum, honoring the iconic Zionist pioneer who died in 1920 while defending his settlement, has been largely abandoned and gathering dust for 15 years.
For many years, the idea of establishing a museum and archive for Joseph Trumpeldor made the rounds on Kibbutz Tel Yosef. The kibbutz was named for the early Zionist activist who died defending the settlement of Tel Hai in 1920, but the museum plan was repeatedly rejected for budgetary reasons.
