Landau Awards Mari-B Rights Without a Tender

Landau's announcement, just six weeks before the coming Knesset election, is in practice the transfer of a public asset worth billions of shekels to private hands - without any compensation - and in an unprecedented process carried out extremely quickly.

The Mari-B offshore natural gas field will not be returned to the state after it is all tapped out during the next two years; instead it will continue to be in the service of the two companies that run it today: Yitzhak Tshuva's Delek Group and the American firm Noble Energy.
