Almost 30% of electronic, electrical appliances businesses are in danger

By Nofar Sinai

Nearly a third of Israel's electronic and electrical appliances businesses are in danger, says Dun & Bradstreet Israel.

Some 27% are in imminent danger of collapse because of a fatal combination of high rent and margins crushed by competition.

The situation was even worse a year ago, at about 33% in imminent danger. Then the reason was the Second Lebanon War, which was not good for business. Today the reason is the slide in prices, due to competition between stores - and with discount websites.

The main stores in danger are the small and medium-sized ones, which comprise 30% to 40% of the electronic and electrical appliances sector, or around 1,100 businesses, says Dun & Bradstreet Israel.
