Bosnia's attacking midfielder, Sergei Barbarez, will not play against Israel on Saturday. The player is recovering from an injury and preferred to train with his German club SV Hamburg yesterday.
Barbarez promised coach Mischa Smilovic that he would join the squad for training and said he would be available to play against Austria in Vienna on September 5.
Barbarez's place in the starting lineup is expected to be taken by Adin Moicin, while Marco Topic of Energie Kottbus and Elvir Balic of Real Madrid will both play as strikers.
Bosnia also began preparations for the game yesterday and from today will hold two daily sessions.
Smilovic is reported in the local press to have said that he is "unable to sleep at night" and that Barbarez's absence "isn't making me any healthier."
Bosnian commentators say that Smilovic will prefer an attacking lineup, playing with two forwards to take advantage of Israel's unreliable defense and to gain an early advantage.
