The case against Chuck Hagel: legitimate concerns, character assassination and selective outrage
The former senator and prospective secretary of defense is the victim of a vile campaign of vilification, which, one suspects, is really aimed at Barack Obama.

This is for US interests ONLY. Israel has NO business poking its nose into US affairs, or dictate who the US should or should not nominate. What gives Israel that sense of entitlement?

"not ideal ally" for use of force against Iran? So how much less than ideal is he? "Not ideal" in its true sense connotes somewhat less than ideal. Ideal is also popularly used to mean 'a bad fit". I leave it to the readers to pick which term fits Hagel. And, the author tells us that if you translate Hagel's words into Hebrew they sound ok. Well, tell that to all those English speaking Jewish lobby conspiracy proponents who haven't had the chance to study Hebrew.

Let Israeli troops and lives be lost fighting its own war for a change and not American troops fighting and dying for your needs. Hagel opposes Israels interference in its politics and that is a good thing. Pro Israeli senators in the US have caused enough trouble. They forget they are Americans first and foremost and it is there own nations interests they were elected to protect...not Israels.

Never have U.S. troops fought in Israel in 1948,1956,1967,1973 or 1982,however Soviet "advisers" have been in Syria , Egypt and other Middle East countries by the thousands against Israel during a couple of these conflicts.
