Thank you for the intelligent, nuanced article. It's a great pity that the press in my country (US) cannot approach anything related to Israel with this much honesty and comprehension. Anyone who wants to criticize Bibi is afraid of being called a jew-hater and everyone who questions Israel's policy is called an anti-semite. The lobbies that silenced honest debate in teh US about Israel have done uncalcuable damage to the cause of Israel. Nowadays, I just read Israeli press for news from that part of the world. (yes. not just Haaretz - but also the other side of the spectrum)American press is too formulaic and doesnt do its journalistic job. Peace...

It is too bad that Israel did not support the vote for statehood. That could have resulted in real peace between the State of Israel and the now official Palestine living side by side in peace.

I heard Abbas give his speech and it was full of lies. Who can forget such a short time ago Hamas lynching 6 people without a trial and the UN expects Israel to live in harmony. Expects Fatah and Hamas to be one party, one state. I can't see it happening in the near future and am amazed that Abbas lied in his speech.

This is the result of years of warnings given to israel by the world and now one must live by ones actions or inactions.

Oh by the the way, 5 of the 9 Yes voters for example : Marshall Islands, Palau, Micronesia, Nauru, Panama, all in all 3,5 million inhabitants....still, don't complain, the US tried there very best.
