General Dempsey is 'complicit' in goading Israel to attack Iran

Israel is not part of the US, Isn't it? Why bother if they do not want give their hand?

Israel was isolated when it attacked nuclear facilities in Syria and Iraq. Israel is and will be isolated for the foreseeable future. It has to do what it has to do to protect itself from potential Iranian statements that " Israel is a cancer that should be wiped off the face of the Earth". Israel cannot afford to ignore these comments unless their is a change in Iran. Public opinion in the US is not what Haaretz comments reflect. No US President will survive if Iran acquires a nuclear weapon and uses it to wipe the Jews off the face of the Earth as they said they would.

Israels actions and policies offend and outrage people on a daily basis. As long as this continues, it is not possible for anyone to clean up all the messes and coerce people to be nice to Israel. Israel makes no moves at all to address the issues of their occupation of the west bank, their smashing of international law by building on occupied land, and their avoidcance of peace. Israel inspires hate and distrust and not only among Arabs, but among justice loveing people everywhere. Since Israel is as busy as a bee "isolating" itself in this fashion, why does it fall upon America to comfort and support the tender feelings of the offending Israelis? Are you nuts?

Between Ovadia Yosef and Ali Khamenei I see two crazy dudes in beards and stupid hats threatening to wipe each other off the map, and two people so beholden to religious fanaticism that they give idiots like that political power. So, by all means, go ahead and attack them and make both fanatics' dreams come true in short order.

Damned if you do & Damned if you don't. But can you imagine the damage Israel would do to the worlds economies by a pre-emptive strike. The other side of that option is Israel isn't huge so like they say one nuke to them pretty much spoils the whole nation with radiation. We Americans don't have any desire to war with Iran. No need, no justification no right to war with them. No money either. Look at India/pakistan/N Korea, they have nukes and have not used them. Why? because they know they are defensive weapons and if attacked they can use them. Iran is no different I dare say. Israel has Nukes and thats a fact so you can't have it both ways and than cry foul when the other independent nations do the same for the same reasons.

Russia and China have already drawn a line in the sand. They are not going to idly stand by while the US blows up yet another country. Dempsey is trying to save Israel from becoming ground zero for world war three. I doubt that he will succeed.

This sounds like a scolding from a mother - "insulting and counterproductive", lol. Yes, Israeli politics isn't at all based on that premise. How dare you criticize the US for expressing their opinion? The intelligence community in the US is publishing an assessment that says "ditch Israel". Hopefully reason prevails and the manipulated superficiality of political rhetoric that Israel thinks it can play the US with will wash away.

I think your logic is backwards: if Israel believes that the US "has its back" they will be a lot more willing to attack Iran.

The Leaders of the Alliance did not want to be "Complicit" and bomb the German railroads to the Nazi Gas Chambers. Perhaps if someone did, more would have survived the Holocaust.

Good for Dempsey. Israel is making a gross miscalculation if it thinks the US is at all interested in another war. If we are forced into a war by an Israeli attack on Iran we will without doubt support Israel. However we will never again expose ourselves to the risk of aligning with Israel again.

It would be suicidal for Israel to attack Iran without US backing. If Israeli Jews are stupid enough to elect a government that would attack Iran without US support, then Israel deserves to suffer the consequences. Dempsey's remarks were right on target. Attack Iran at your own risk. In case you think things might be different if Romney is electred, please understand that the US public is fed up with endless wars against anti-Zionist regimes in the Middle East. No matter how close Romney is to Ntanyahu, a war with Iran would evoke so much backlash that even he could not pursue it. Finally, how arrogant can you be to suggest that Obama use his acceptance speech to undercut Dempsey? You got to understand, Israel is not a big concernof American voters in this election.

You are going to be murdering a whole lot of people if you go crazy and attack Iran. This is why most people are against it. They are against it because they believe in humanity.

Chemi, Do you wake up at night choking on your liberalism ? Would not your energies be best employed supporting your government, your country and it's allies at this time? I would hate to think you are one of those who believes Iran's laughable message of good will and purely scientific use of nuclear power is anything but a farce, a stalling tactic to continue work on bombs. I have every faith with the leaders of Israel and the USA to do what is best for both countries.. you could work on your faith as well.

By all means do this attack yourself. Americans are tired of the endless wars that we fight on your behalf. So get to bombing Iran but don't come running to daddy when it all goes bad. Remember, we did try to warn you against this foolishness.

It's time for the 'special relationship' that the USA has with Israel to end. It's time for USA to treat Israel as a normal country, like Britain or Japan. Over the decades USA has given Israel more than $180 billion in economic and military assistance, the bulk of it comprising direct grants rather than loans, and yet USA can barely achieve modest negotiating goals such as getting Israel to stop expanding West Bank settlements for 90 days, let alone dismantle them, even though the Palestinians have been willing at times to make major concessions. Fight your own wars from now on.
