Three weeks ago, Haaretz's Amos Harel broke the story that Iran had diverted a large quantity of enriched uranium to civilian scientific research, delaying the progress of its nuclear program by at least half a year and allowing Israel to take more time in...

Ahead of Israel election, Ehud Barak puts Iran nuclear intel to political use
Haaretz analyst Anshel Pfeffer says that the defense minister, by choosing to discuss information concerning Iran's nuclear program with a U.K. reporter, is trying to keep the Israeli public in the dark.
thank you

03 0 0Ahead of election, Anshel Pfeffer puts non-story to political use

Let's look at the real facts here: 1) Amos Harel reported on October 9th on a report by the IAEA that stated Iran slowed progress on its nuclear weapons program, thus pushing back the clock on estimates of when Iran will be nuclear ready. 2) Harel reported that the intelligence community in Israel considers the report "highly reliable" and that they have independent intelligence that verifies the reports validity. 3) Harel also reminded readers that Netanyahu himself postponed the "deadline" for stopping Iran's nuclear program to next year. 4) Harel quoted a senior Israeli defense official as giving a more precise timeframe for the deadline as "8 months at least". Therefore, the Israeli public was not withheld any information "regarding its future survival" as Pfeffer wants the Israeli public to believe. The information was distributed deliberately and clearly. If Barak spoke to Harel on the condition of anonymity as Pfeffer implies, it only shows that Barak thought the information was important for the public to know. If Barak thought there was a political interest in keeping the information from the public, why would he have told it to Harel at all? Barak probably felt that he could go on record with the British journalist about the timeline because his earlier anonymous quote was already published 3 weeks earlier in Israel and reprinted around the world without causing a stir in the Prime Minister's Office. If it seems unlikely that Pfeffer is attacking Ehud Barak for narrow political reasons, perhaps you could propose why he would try to convince readers that Barak was withholding information from the public that Barak himself leaked to the public.

02 0 0It is very bad that Israeli journalists have only one source of information:Israeli leaders

Especially when the source is Bibi and his last buddy Barak. However,a lot of foreign journalists since Bibi made his irresponsible declarations about Iranian threat and brought a war at a close possibility, these journalists -Gareth Porter,John Glaser,Justin Raimondo etc,etc-reminded that Iran is a affiliated to NPT,is controlled by IAEA,that IAEA doesn't find a gram of uranium produced by Iran which could be enriched in hidden places, namely what they producing are very well known and verified.More than that Iranians are a smart people and they declare that would be a stupidity to try to get a bomb while Israel-according to foreign sources has 400.And more than that their spiritual leader considers this weapon as immoral, rightly how it is.So all the ado is only Bibi's churchillian megalomany

Ehud Barak has made himself irrelevent. He is a cad and a political opportunist who cannot work with other politiicans. He is not land for peace, nor socialist nor free market reformer nor Likud but eposuses a nothing idology instead. Few will vote for him in Novemrber and he will go home to declare Atzmaut in his luxury tower apartment in Tel Aviv.
