The worst campaign for tourism to Israel ever

I found a bit disingenuous your insistence on not showing the daily news article unless I either sign up for the site or pay the subscription.... seems to me you will be most interested to put your opinions upfront w/o such requirements. while I understand the need for subscription if you regularly access the site, for the casual reader that wants to simply follow the daily news from a country it seems counter intuitive. Surely you can get your money back by spreading the word (and by the huge number of pop-up ads that shows up on every page anyway...) ....

It' s not just travel expenses. It's all expenses for tourists while they are in Israel. The tourism industry devoloped in earnest in Israel in the 1960's and 70's when you had to be quite rich to travel at all. Fancy hotels and overpriced restaurants were built. Since then the industry somehow has remained believing that this is the demographic. Of the uncountable new projects building new hotels, there are almost no cheap hotels. Jerusalem seems to be having a building boom of 5 Star Hotels. Good Luck finding a 3 Star hotel in Tel Aviv . It's just greed- and it's keeping people away.

Jews in the Reform community here in the US have little motovation to visit Israel. They hate the Zionist policy towards Plaestinians and their rabbis are not recognized as rabbis by Israel's Orthodox establishment. Here is my idea to rectify this conflict: Reform Jews must spend several months in Israel every decade thereby allowing them to be certified as "Jewish." Toursim will flourish as there are more Jews within the diaspora community than there are in Israel.

you can fly budget from London (easy jet) or Budapest (wizzair). some national carriers like BA, Lot or Lufthansa have frequent promotions. Baltic Air, etc... But the costs on the ground can be prohibitive. Food, going out - this is so expensive! And I often hear people outraged how they were treated at the border control. This is especially true while departing Israel and as the last memory, leaves a bad taste! That could be easily fixed I am sure!

Why do you stop tourists who say they want to visit Palestine?

My last visit to Israel was in June 2012 and I don´t find this country dangerous. But many people here in the Czech Republic do- just like the article says- when they watch TV news. And that´s the reason why the number of Czech tourists is so low- some 3000 a year. The campaign is a very good idea- people must come and see !

I think the campaign is wonderful. It is clever and unique. And it is not the cost of airplane tickets that is preventing our Jewish 'friends' from American from visiting us. Get real, it's because they don't want to come. They'd rather visit France, or China, or any other country instead of Israel. They don't care, it doesn't interest them, it's not their priority. Because of lack of education and awareness they have chosen not to come.

Prices are prohibitive compared to other countries, car condition and customer service is poor. Insurance policies are insane. Trust me, or ask Shlomo

Coming to Israel for tourism is being ready to be poorely addressed to, get no service whatsoever and pay at least double the price for everything. Find a third category hotel room and pay the price of a palace in Europe,as for the flight tickets.... A high price for jewish tourism. Why?

Most of the time, when I tell people I live in Israel they tell me I should move back to Europe to be safe.
