Jews and Muslims break bread together at iftar feast
Vered Guttman had the honor of preparing a bountiful post-Ramadan day meal hosted by Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren.
“At 8:11 the sun will set and all the Muslims in the room will turn into Christmas trees,” said Imam Antepli Abdullah from Duke University, as he and others anticipated sundown at an Iftar dinner hosted on Monday by Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren.
Vered Guttman is a caterer and a food writer based in Washington DC. Growing up in Israel she took her first lessons in Jewish cooking sitting at the tables of her two grandmothers, one from Poland, the other from Iraq.
