Jews and Muslims brave weight-loss challenge together
Slim Peace Groups, a non-profit organization established in Israel five years ago, has a dual goal: to promote healthy eating and living habits, and at the same time bring together women from different religious background who would otherwise never have met.
January is a good month for well-meaning resolutions, and no doubt losing a few pounds is a popular one. This Tuesday in Boston, a small group of Jewish and Muslim women decided to start working on adopting a healthier lifestyle together.
Vered Guttman is a caterer and a food writer based in Washington DC. Growing up in Israel she took her first lessons in Jewish cooking sitting at the tables of her two grandmothers, one from Poland, the other from Iraq.
