President Barack Obama - as his critics often like to remind Jewish voters - has not visited Israel since 2008. But, if he misses the region’s flavors, Obama needs to go no farther than the White House kitchen.

11 0 0Hummus is a Middle Eastern appetizer, not just Israeli but when President Obama gets to Israel he should really try Iraqi Jewish cuisine...
- By Smadar
- 31 Oct 2012
- 10:09PM
now that's unique to the Iraqi Jewish community but I understand many Ashkenazi Jews love all the different kubbas, tibbit (stuffed chicken with rice), Shabbat brunch with grilled eggplant, and of course, laffas. Now since every Jewish community has its own special cuisine, one can make a lot of trips to Israel....

Israel seem to be the Mecca for all US Presidents to be visted and pay their loyality if they want jewish votes. Even so, it is enough to visit Mecca once in life time for Muslims.

There are so many variants on hummus. What does the Big Man favour? What are the political implications? Does he share? Does he wipe his plate clean with a pita? What is his position on tahina? Falafel? And, more vitally, halva? And what about Mitt Romney? We have a right to know.

You're mistaken ! A thousand years before the Arabs came into the secrets of Hummus, the Indians used to wipe the hummus with Chapata | & from there came the stunted version of the pita. Now you get it !?

Hummus in not just chickpeas!
- By Ned
- 01 Nov 2012
- 04:36PM
No, actually and with all due respect, you are wrong: chickpeas have been known to man since the dawn of civilization, including Indian civilization. However, the combination of chickpea paste, tahini, lemon, and a little salt is the Hummus created in the middle east by Arabs. We are talking here about hummus, not chickpeas, Sir!
