The Romanian salata de icre (fish roe) is a staple in Israel. It's similar to the Greek version, but lighter and less pungent.

Fish roe dips are known in the U.S. mainly in their Greek version, taramasalata. It is available in many Middle Eastern and European supermarkets as well as at Whole Foods. So is the cured tarama, fish roe (usually carp), which is used to prepare the dip.
