The first presidential debate proved what the American people had plenty of opportunities to discover in the past few years: that both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are not eager to risk being caught saying a provocative phrase.

Romney debated well, but nobody seems eager for two more academic-style debates
Focusing mainly on taxes and economy, Obama and Romney chose to play it safe at the first presidential debate; with burning domestic issues, the Middle East was mentioned only once.
thank you

I don't know what planet Natasha Mozgovaya was on--Romney avoided eye contact? awkward moments for him? Almost ALL "pundits", including Democratic one's, have reported on what they perceive as a clearly superior performance from Romney-but your correspondent seems to have seen this as an almost equal debate. Romney looked Obama squarely in the eye-was direct and detailed-while Obama spent his time avoiding eye contact and looking down at the lectern. And--anyone who watches the repeat will see how Natasha's report is way, way off-base...something to consider in the future when evaluating what she writes.

Most of the debt came from Bush's Iraq II. Which we fought partly for Israel, BTW.

Yes, it was academic. So what. Do people really want punchlines.cheap one-liners or populist talk? If the answer is yes Oy wehs mir. In this debate the topics were real and so were the answers of both candidates.

typical mean spiritied conservative thinking. Sadly the fact is that with Romney in the White House life would be bitter for all Americans, when they realize he is an empty suit full of lies...
