Anyone familiar with the work of media maven, Marshall McCluhan, would probably concur with Issacharoff's remarks. The invention of the printing press created a great upheaval in european society although few people could actually read. Before that, even the invention of writing was deemed to be an anathema to society by Aristotle. The conflict between the old and new media lasts to this day. Any technological advance (maybe even Facebook counts) leads initially to chaos by disrupting the old order without necessarily supplanting it.
