Last Friday, less than a day after the Palestinian victory at the United Nations vote, many diplomats were surprised to find that when they entered the UN General Assembly Hall, a change has occurred on the Palestinian delegation's bench. The old sign that said "Palestine" was replaced with a new sign that said "State of Palestine."

Maybe he thinks he is a king and he wants a throne to sit on and maybe a crown to go along with it but he isn't the Pope and there is not State of Palestine. The UN gave the PA an upgraded observer status not statehood, its the Security Council that does that and the Security Council are not going to grant statehood to the palestinians unless they NEGOTIATE with Israel, create a solution that both sides hate but both sides can grudgingly accept. Until they Abbas can wave the PLO flag, ask for special chairs and sign as much as he likes but its still only an ILLUSION of statehood and not the real thing. So Abbas cam compromise and get a real state or he can stick to his current uncompromising stance and make do with the illusion.
