Boston, from afar: Will someone please explain my America to me?
Here in Israel, where the terrible effects of weaponry are all too evident, I've yet to meet the person who mistakes firearms for liberty and general welfare.
It's only natural for an American living abroad to see the United States as the country that made you what you are. The place you know the best. Maybe that's why it seems so unnatural to suspect, every now and then, that you no longer know America at all.
