Although airports on the east coast of the United States have reopened after heavy snowstorm this week, flight delays and cancellations on routes to and from Israel continued into yesterday. There were also delays on routes between Ben-Gurion International Airport and several European cities.
Cancellations yesterday included a Continental Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Newark, New Jersey, while another Continental flight was delayed. A spokeswoman for the company, Daphna Triwaks, said the airline took care of its affected passengers as other companies did.
Delta Airlines canceled its flights between Tel Aviv and New York, and a US Airways flight from Philadelphia was delayed. An El Al flight that was forced to land in Toronto instead of New York continued yesterday to the United States. Meanwhile, El Al Flight 002, which had been sitting with its passengers for seven hours at New York's JFK airport, landed yesterday at Ben-Gurion.
Another flight, El Al 008 from JFK to Israel, was delayed. An early morning flight from Israel to Russia had to return to Ben-Gurion because of snow in Moscow, and an Aeroflot flight on the same route was canceled.
