Following Manchester United's qualification for the second stage of the Champions League, manager Alex Ferguson is set to leave several of his star players at home for the clash with Maccabi Haifa in Nicosia Tuesday.
Ferguson wants to rest some of the players who have seen the club register a perfect record in four games thus far in the competition. As a result, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is recovering from injury, will likely be allowed to stay at home and rest.
The final decision of which players will travel to Cyprus will be made Sunday, following United's home clash with Aston Villa at Old Trafford tomorrow.
United needs a league victory to stay close to the leaders, and Maccabi Haifa will be only a side issue for Ferguson, who looks certain to allow Diego Furlan and Luke Chadwick to start the game next week. The two excelled in the 3-2 win over Olympiakos on Wednesday.
