"I grew up in New York, so I'm used to being under pressure," Spartak St. Petersburg guard Andrew Wisniewski said about his upcoming move to Maccabi Tel Aviv next season. The 28-year-old player, who is 1.91 meters tall, has just finished a successful season in the Russian league and says he is looking forward to moving to Israel.
"I'm psyched over moving to Maccabi," he said. "I feel proud. It's a big team with an illustrious history in European basketball."
One of the attractions according to Wisniewski is the weather. "I've had enough," he said of the freezing Russian winters.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Pini Gershon said yesterday that center Lior Eliyahu will not stay at the team next season.
