Two people were killed and three were seriously injured in three weekend traffic accidents. Yesterday afternoon, Hana Dadon, 50, was killed when the car her husband was driving collided with a taxi on Jabotinsky Street in Petah Tikva. The victim's daughter, who is about 20, was seriously injured, while the driver sustained mild injuries. Police suspect one of the vehicles may have run a red light.
A three-car pileup late Friday night on the Ayalon Highway, near the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael exit, claimed one life and left two people injured, one seriously. The accident began when a van driving south crashed into a traffic island at the junction. A jeep traveling behind the van collided with it, and a Subaru car behind the jeep then collided with both vehicles. A passenger in the Subaru was taken to Ichilov Hospital with critical injuries and died several hours later. Two other people were injured, one seriously.
One man, a 23-year-old resident of Moshav Alma, was in serious condition after an accident late Friday night in Kiryat Shmona. According to police, the accident occurred after a 22-year-old man from the village of Tuba, driving with three passengers, left a club in town and began driving "wildly" against traffic, running several red lights in the process. A police cruiser gave chase but was unable to stop the car, which collided head-on with another car. The driver of the second car was admitted to Rebecca Sieff Hospital in Safed and he was taken to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. The offending driver was hospitalized at Sieff Hospital in moderate condition.
