Three people were killed and nine others were injured yesterday in two traffic accidents in the north of the country.
In the first incident, a man was killed and four motorists injured, one seriously so, in the early morning hours in a two-car collision at a junction in the village of Tel Hai. Galilee District Police are investigating and believe one of the cars ran a red light and caused the accident.
Later yesterday, two people were killed and five others were injured in a pileup near Megiddo Junction. The accident occurred when a truck hit a vehicle in front of it, causing it to veer out of its lane and collide with another truck coming from the opposite direction. Both truck drivers were killed immediately, and another motorist was left in serious condition. Police arrived at the scene of the accident and said that particular stretch of road has been the site of repeated car crashes and accidents so the speed limit there has been reduced to 60 kph. Police have even considered closing the road to traffic.
